Triathlon Performance Solutions (TPS) will enter the 8th year for this March training camp at Playitas resort in Fuerteventura.

Playitas is easily accessible, with many flights from the UK and elsewhere in Europe, which makes this a training mecca that is internationally recognised by some of the top triathletes.

Playitas resort has a main hotel block, but also a separate area of apartment blocks, all with sea and garden view options,

Total camp price includes:

Small group and one-to-one coaching from Nick Saunders and Andy Brodziak.

Back up van support with water and small snacks;

7 days Half board;

Heated outdoor 50m Swimming pool

Use of well equipped gym

Excludes:

Lunches;

TRANSFERS;

Drinks;

Travel Insurance;

Laundry ( available on site for €3 per load )

Bike hire – available on site from €120 per week or via Fuerteventura Bike hire -if something goes wrong with your bike it can be swapped immediately.

The sports shop sells a range of spares and nutrition and is open daily, including clothing and training gear if you forget anything. There is also pool training gear to hire for the week if need be.

ITINERARY

Total Tri Camp – Fuerteventura – Example Itinerary (exact itinerary may change)

Day 1

Arrival day – Fly into Fuerteventura and settle into Playitas resort.

Pre-dinner presentation:

Meet and get to know all the fellow campers and coaches, brief on the weekly itinerary, troubleshoot and prepare for first full day

Day 2

Morning run 7am: 40min with pre-run mobility session

Pool Swim – 11.30am – 1.30pm: Arrange lanes and swim groups for week

Cycle after swim 1.45-3.45pm

Nutrition talk – 5pm: Key elements of nutrition for triathlon training and racing

Day 3

Long Bike 8.45am: approximately 100-120km (often tailored for distance competing and/ or cycle experience)

Optional run off the bike 20-30min

Pool Swim 3.30pm – 5.30pm

Day 4

Long Bike 8.45am: approx. 100km

Sea Swim 4pm (1km/4km Aquathlon swim-run)

Dinner out – attend a local sea food restaurant

Day 5

Gym – 9.30-10.30: typically body weight circuits with key exercises for triathlon strength and tissue conditioning

Pool Swim 11.30-1.30pm

Track Session – cycle to track ascending set

Day 6

General Talk/Q and A – 9.30-10.30am

Super Sprint Triathlon race 12pm-2pm

Pre race warm up and mobility session followed by Individual Super Sprint Triathlon:

Individual Super Sprint – 2x (150m sea swim/4.5km bike/1.5km run) Race done continuously, as a HARD training session to practice transitions etc. (depending on sea conditions, pool lane booked)

Day 7

Long Bike 8.45am – approx. 100-120km

Run off the bike – Lighthouse run – 13.5km

Day 8

Swim 8.30-9.30

Official end of the camp and travel home

 

NB: We allow plenty of options with regards to the training schedule and you can decide how much or little you want to do. The shorter distance athletes are not expected to train as long as the long distance athletes.
