Hi everyone

TPS would like to wish you all a very belated happy 2015, lets hope it proves to be a year of good performances and PB’s for all TPS athletes.

For some the year has already started, check out (below) the lean mean Greg Donat on his way to another Israman finish and a PB. Greg is preparing for Ultraman Florida in February. For those of you that don’t know the world of Ultraman it consists of a 6 mile  swim on day 1, a 261 mile bike ride on day 2 and finally a 52 mile run on day 3. It makes Ironman look like a walk in the park. In 2 years Greg has listened to coach Andy and stayed injury free and trained as consistently as anyone can.

Lots has been happening over the winter months gearing up for our 3 camps this year:

South Africa – March 2015

French Alps  – June 2014

Fuerteventura – Sep 2014 ( Pre Hawaii camp)

South Africa will be a new future camp venue for TPS. We will be based in Stellenbosch. The training in and around the area is some of the best in the world. Throw in great weather, food and wine and you get a fantastic combination of fun and training. We will be going out in March to recce all of the rides and sample some of the restaurants. We will be joined by Brad Brown who will be aiming to complete his 8th Ironman when he lines up along side coach Andy to start IM South Africa. Tom Perchard will also be joining us for his 2015 Island Games preparation which will be held in Jersey.

The Alps Camp is in the planning stages, the dates for this are set at 3rd to the 10th of June and it will once again be held in Briancon, France.  5 spots have already be taken up with 3 spots remaining. Let us know if you are interested. It is a very relaxed camp with the focus being big miles for any long distance races you have coming up.

We will be partnering up with Nirvana Travel for our pre Kona camp out in Fuerteventura, this camp is aimed at anyone who is going out to Kona or has an upcoming Ironman in October such as Barcelona. The dates for this camp are set for the 3rd to the 10th of September.

We also plan to continue with our usual March camp coinciding with the Lighthouse Triathlon, we are just waiting for the dates to be released. We were unable to do the camp this year due to Playitas not having any rooms available.

In other news TPS are now using the Swim Smooth Application that has great sessions aimed at all swim types. It is a method of swim coaching that has proven to work and we have great feed back so far from some of the sessions our athletes have completed. The most important thing we have found is that the athletes find it fun and it has taken the boredom out of their swimming as well as making them swim at the right pace for sessions.

Coach Nick is working with Scotland’s favourite athlete, Fraser Cartmell to prepare for Ironman South Africa in March. Fraser will also be out in South Africa when we get out there. Fraser is currently training hard and racking up over 30 hours of training a week in his preparation for the big one. He will be stopping off in Dubai before he heads out to South Africa to race Challenge Dubai.

That’s all for now folks, make sure you check out Facebook page for any results and up coming races for out athletes.
